Benefits of organic compost
Unlike chemical fertilizers, worm castings release their nutrients slowly. Chemical fertilizers are usually quick-release and create a surplus in nutrients, followed by a drop. Due to the microbial life in the worm castings there is a constant steady supply of nutrients. Chemical fertilizers are very prone to water-washing, by watering the soil a lot of nutrients get dragged out of the soil medium and away from the roots. Worm castings is very resistant to this phenomenon
Microbial life
The bacteria and fungus naturally present in the worm castings create a strong basis for a healthy plant. The soil is an ecosystem in itself and there is a constant exchange and flow of nutrients, minerals and other organic components. The microbial life helps plants with the uptake and regulations of the macro- and micronutrients.

Can worm castings be used year-round for fertilizing?
Worm castings is a natural, complete fertiliser for your plants. It is the perfect replacement for chemical fertilizers, which can often burn your plant's roots due to their high concentration of minerals and salts.
Unlike liquid fertilizers, worm castings can be applied throughout the year without the risk of burn!
Is worm castings safe for my animals / children
Worm castings is a natural product and completely safe for animals, for example in a terrarium. However we do not recommend eating it, and keep it out of reach of children (yes, we have gotten this question before..)
What do we feed the worms?
Since worm castings are, quite literally, worm poop, it is common sense that feeding the worms high-quality food results in high-quality castings!
Organic dead plant matter, food waste, kitchen scraps, or other yard waste form the majority of the worms' diet.
Why choose worm castings over compost?
Though these products are similar, there are a few significant differences between compost and worm castings.
Worm castings exclusively consist of worm manure, while compost (while sometimes also containing worm castings) also contains lots of other decomposing plant waste and organisms.
The reason we prefer worm castings over compost is that it is a much more concentrated source of essential nutrients. Compost is also usually a lot more heavy and allows for little airflow, where worm castings has a better structure.
It also contains a much more versatile range of microorganisms, which are highly beneficial for plant health.
